“Make A Home For Me, I Pray”

We send this song in honor of our dear friend, Lonnie Sevier. It was one of his requests.

Although I originally wrote this song to imagine what the people of Ellenton, South Carolina must have felt like to be displaced from their homes, this song has come to resonate with people battling illness who feel like their earthly journey may be coming to an end.

We love you & miss you, Lonnie. It will be a grand time to see you again in Heaven one day. We have that sure hope that is the anchor for our souls thanks to Our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ!

Our dear Lonnie Sevier

I am very sad to write that our dear friend, Lonnie Sevier, passed away today (Saturday, January 2nd, 2021).

His family said that he did have a good New Year’s Day; and enjoyed eating greens, black-eyed peas, and cornbread with them all. They stayed with him last night, and they said he had a peaceful night. His oldest grandson checked on him all throughout the night, and around 6:00 A.M., Lonnie appeared to have crossed over. The medical people pronounced that it was at 6:41 A.M.

As y’all know, Lonnie was a faithful part of The Family Fold. He was always joyful to be at our events, and he loved to help us transport/set up the musical equipment. Of course, he made friends wherever he would go with us! We were blessed to hang out with Lonnie multiple times a week, ever since April 4th, 2009, to be exact. He never forgot the date that he met us, and we are absolutely humbled to have made such a friend as our dear Lonnie. He made our lives better.

One of the saddest things of the COVID Pandemic is missing out on time with loved ones like Lonnie. But my dad & I would make it a point several times a week to chit-chat on the phone with Lonnie. He was excited and proud of things our band was planning and working on, and he was looking forward to being in on it all.

The last time that Dad & I talked with Lonnie, he wanted to tell us about his memorial plans. He is going to be buried with his family in Oklahoma, and a service will be held at Bible Deliverance Temple on Wednesday. Lonnie knew the precautions that our family/band has had to take during this pandemic, but he was very pleased with Dad & I telling him that The Family Fold would host a memorial for him as soon as the band gets back to our live events. Lonnie even went ahead and named me the top four songs that he wants us to play that day.

I deeply wish Lonnie could have stayed on this earth with us. I have definitely cried about that. When we talked about his memorial, I told him, “I don’t want to have to do this for you anytime soon. I want to throw you a birthday party in March, y’know!”

We have all been praying for Lonnie, and I do want you to know that every prayer that you said for him gave him so much strength and encouragement to endure his battle against cancer.

Let‘s please pray for his family and friends. Really, that is a request for us all to pray for each other, because I know we all love him and miss him.

Would you like to study the book of Revelation?

If you would like to study the book of Revelation, come on board “The Bible Bus” today. “Thru The Bible with Dr. J. Vernon McGee” is studying the book of Revelation, and we just started in today. You can listen anytime via their free podcast or on http://www.ttb.org. In the CSRA, the radio program broadcasts at 12:25 P.M. on WLPE 91.7 FM. I love what was posted on their Facebook page today...

“We live in difficult times that seem to have no solutions. But when it looks like the evil in this world is going to win, we can read this last book of the Bible and know everything is going to work out. But isn’t Revelation full of frightening events and pictures? Yes, but we’ll learn in this amazing study why we can put our confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Hint: He wins.) Stay till the end. #TTB #BibleBus #BibleStudy”

“Auld Lang Syne”

We hope you enjoy our rendition of “Auld Lang Syne.”

We pray that this New Year's Eve will be one of peace, hope, and the assurance that God is with you. He will never fail you, no matter what.

We thank The Lord for another year of getting to share our music with you! Thank y’all for being a part of what we do.

Ricie Update: Another trip to the ER.

Christmas night found Ricie in such horrendous pain that we made another trip to the ER. They did a CT scan on her to make sure things were still looking right with her cervical spine surgery. Thankfully, all of her hardware is nicely intact. But, the scan did show that she has a lot of inflammation. We came home, and she is on another 10-day course of steroids. We are grateful for y’all praying for her, and we ask that you please continue to do so. We want this pain to go away and stay away!

“Silent Night” with Sir George Armijo

One of my fondest memories of 2020 was getting to perform “Silent Night” with my grandfather (“Opa”), George Armijo, for the historic Sacred Heart Cultural Center in Augusta, GA. Although we have played music together any time we would visit over the past 20-years, this video captures the first time that we performed a vocal duet together. Prayers & Peace from Our Family to Yours on Christmas Eve…..

“They Could Have Had His Room,” plus pix from the vintage Family Fold Photograph Album

Precious memories with loved ones come to our mind at Christmastime, so we wanted to open the vintage photograph album and share this treasured song with you. We cherish this composition from 2003 because our friend, Don “Ramblin’” Rhodes wrote these lyrics and asked Eryn if she would like to write the music. We hope you enjoy this song that not only tells of the very first Christmas, but also has us ponder what Jesus would do for us eternally through His death & resurrection.

**************

“O Holy was that night when they came to that inn

Where he had just arrived a short time before them.

And if he just had known about Jesus' future doom,

He gladly would have gave that couple his own room.

But who could have guessed on that December night

That all the stars in Heaven would be shining oh so bright?

And if he'd only known about that future tomb,

That Baby in Bethlehem could have had his room.

He heard that couple's son was born on stable hay,

And shepherds came afar to see where that Child lay.

The cows and goats that night breathed warmth into the gloom,

While he slept not far away in the comfort of his room.

But who could have guessed on that December night

That all the stars in Heaven would be shining oh so bright?

And if he'd only known about that future tomb,

That Baby in Bethlehem could have had his room.”

“Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer”

We hope our rendition of “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer” perks you up today!

Even before Rudolph became the popular “hero” of the classic Christmas story, I liked him the best out of all of the reindeers. He was my favorite one right from the beginning of the tale. It kind of ticked me off, though, that his peers didn't start being nice to him until he saved the day… Ugh!!!

So please, be kind to others always, not just when it benefits you.

“O Little Town of Bethlehem + Inisheer”

We hope you enjoy this Christmas carol that features Ricie Eubanks’ beautiful Irish penny whistle... “O Little Town of Bethlehem” + “Inisheer.”

“Inisheer” is a Celtic tune that I learned by ear at the Irish sessions that I grew up attending in downtown Augusta. I would go home humming this melody, but didn’t really think to play it for myself while I was a teenager. (I was busy pickin’ lots of other fun songs!) Through the years, I would catch myself humming it again from time to time. Finally around age 29, I put my pen to manuscript paper, wrote out sheet music of what I remembered of this tune, and told my band, “I’ve got a cool, old Celtic song for us to play!” We all love to play it anytime of the year, and when it’s Christmastime, Mom loves to pair it with one of her forever favorite carols from her childhood days, “O Little Town of Bethlehem.”

Please continue to pray for Mom. She has been battling a lot of pain this past weekend. But we are doing the best we can to combat it, and we are praying and believing for The Lord to renew her strength. Thank you for joining your love & prayers with ours.

We pray that you all have a peaceful week as we get closer to Christmas Day!

“Away In A Manger”

Mom is so grateful for the prayers that you continue to say for her! Her goal for the new week is to start practicing some music. We’re looking forward to hearing her beautiful sound again.

This weekend would have been our annual trip to Dahlonega, GA to play music for our dear friends at St. Elizabeth’s Church. We especially miss them this weekend, and would like to send this Christmas carol out to them.
